Dr. Amer and his Santa Cruz Smiles team are top notch. We researched, and visited, a few of the local Santa Cruz Orthodontists with Dr. Amer's office offering the most genuine and individualized feel. We love that Dr. Amer is staying away from the factory-feel that many orthodontists offices are seeming to adopt by lining up as many back-to-back patients as possible leaving the doc running up and down a line of chairs. Our daughter was very anxious about getting braces and Dr. Amer and his team picked up on this immediately. They gave her real connections and spoke with her so caringly and patiently giving her the worry-free confidence that she needed. The prior offices seemed too overwhelmed to even remember her name :/. I've watched Dr. Amer with several of his other patients over our several visits and this genuine caring is baseline at Santa Cruz Smiles. Definitely interview Dr. Amer and his office before making any decisions!

When I had first visited Dr. Amer, my teeth were extremely crooked and I was told by another orthodontist that I needed jaw surgery. Dr. Amer assured me that surgery was not necessary and was able to provide me with straight teeth and a confident smile in a very short period of time. They own money to Delta Dental & my family!!!Do NOT go to this place!!! They scam their patients for their money. You will get work done and they will look nice, but you will be secretly charged unnecessary charges. In my case they did a horrible job on my daughter. She had expanders put in and hey fell out... TWICE!!!! When we tried to go back to the 3rd time Dr. Amer was on vacation and couldn't fix his 3rd mistake till he got back and we had to wait a month for the soonest appointment. I ended up taking my daughter to another orthodontist and they redid the whole process. The expanders Dr. Amer had, he was going to put 2 of them, Top & bottom. and charge us for both. I went to the new orthodontist and find out no need for bottom and no one does bottom expanders anymore. That they put brackets (braces) instead. On top of that, Santa cuz smiles charged our insurance for braces, not expanders. We called multiple times and they don't answer their phone to fix the insurance scam that they did.

My daughter's half brother has issues too. When I heard he was getting 2nd round of Invisaline, I asked why. All his adult teeth grew in and had teeth still coming. I have another daughter and she has braces from my current orthodontist. Her situation was the same as his. My orthodontist recommended braces and not to waste money on 2 rounds of Invisaline. I told the family they got scammed for their money. The DR should of told him to wait so they wont pay twice. Like I said SCAMMERS!!! Now Delta dental will RECOOP their money for what they did.
