Nico had to have some dental work done and we aren’t sure why he has such an aversion to any kind of dental work (including brushing his teeth- especially with an electric toothbrush). So we had to have his work done under sedation. I can not say enough good things about Dr Hayley and Dr Mohseni and the team at Santa Barbara Children’s Dental. From the first time we saw Dr Hayley she was kind and patient with Nico. They always listen to him when he says stop and they work within his comfort level. Today we got in and we were the only patient in the office. They have a few days a month that they close the office down just for their sedation patients. They weighed Nico and let him pick out a little neck pillow to keep. he chose the avocado ? they explained everything to me again (I had multiple conversations with Dr Hayley, Nico’s dentist, before this appointment and Dr Mohseni the dentist/anesthesiologist called me once last week and again yesterday to go over things and to double check on Nico since he was just getting over his cold/ear infection). Dr Mohseni does anesthesia without a breathing tube and she uses versed before they go back because they tend to not remember anything with the versed. We chose to have her do the anesthesia because of those practices. She had me hold Nico in my arms and gave him his shot. He was super mad about the shot but he got stickers and I got him to think about something else by singing to him and saying something funny to make him laugh. He giggled and then just started staring off into space. That was the hardest part for me to watch. Dr Mohseni picked him up out of my arms and carried him back since I’m not allowed to lift him. Mom and I had a little cry and then she did a great job distracting me for the hour it took to do his work. They came out and said he was doing great and his vital signs were stable. Mom and I chatted and after they finished they took us into a private room where they brought Nico to me and laid him in my arms so he could wake up in my arms. He was so sleepy from the meds it took him a while to wake up. Dr Mohseni said he was too comfy in my arms so she started moving him around a bit and tickling his neck. He woke up a little grumpy but he was awake enough that she felt like we were good to go home. She carried him to the car for me and put him in his seat. The ride home was good. He was pretty emotional (which is common from the meds) but Grannie and I were able to keep him mostly distracted. He used his adorable avocado pillow and we are chilling at home taking it easy, just like the doctor ordered. It was such a wonderful experience from start to finish to something that had the potential to be so traumatic. We switched from SLO Pediatric Dentistry for multiple reasons and I am so glad we found Dr Hayley and her practice: Santa Barbara Children’s Dentistry. Everyone is kind, empathetic, supportive, and accommodating. Dr Hayley is also a conservative dentist which I highly appreciate. It’s well worth the drive and time to have that level of care.

Best dental experience I’ve had for my daughters, the front desk staff is amazing! Letty and Cindy made my daughters feel very welcome and excited for their visit and gave me all the steps needed prior to our appointment making the sign in process super fast and easy! Jennifer took the best care of my babies and made their visit so fun and informative! Jen was very gentle and sweet especially with my oldest who didn’t have such a great dental experience in the past at another office, my daughter was very hesitant but Jen made her feel very safe and confident! Super grateful for Dr Haley , Hannah, the practice manager and all the amazing staff!

Could not thank Dr. Cox and the staff at Santa Barbara Children’s Dentistry more. My 3 year old is confident in the dental chair because of all their support and kindness during his exams. He has been coming every 6 months and knows he is going to have a good experience! They are on time and have a quick tempo, which is most important when dealing with kids. I recommend them to all of our friends with kids!

Im so thankful to have found this place for my youngest! After a bad experience at another so-called pediatric dentistry, I was hesitant but hopeful—and this office exceeded all expectations. The staff here is absolutely amazing. They were incredibly kind, patient, and made the entire process completely stress-free. Our hygienist Jennifer was super!

The office itself is new, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with activities to keep my son entertained before his appointment. The doctor was wonderful—she took the time to answer all my questions and gave helpful, clear feedback.

I couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend this practice to any parent looking for quality care for their child!

So great that we had a new SBCD location in Goleta. The receptionist, nurse and dentist Anna were so nice and helpful. My girl had a wonderful teeth cleaning experience there. She is now looking forward to the next dental appointment.
