We recently moved to Ladera Ranch, and based on positive Google reviews, I visited Dr. Samra for my routine 6-month check-up. He showed me pictures of my tooth, pointing out cracks and recommending a crown to prevent complications. I trusted his advice, but the tooth started hurting right after the temporary crown was placed. When I returned to address the pain, he said it was normal. Despite my concerns, two weeks later, he insisted everything was fine and put on the permanent crown without any bite adjustment.

The pain persisted, so I went back, and he made a minor adjustment, saying it would resolve the issue. It didn’t. I saw another dentist who immediately found an infection Dr. Samra had missed. She informed me that due to the infection, they would need to remove the new crown, perform a root canal, and replace the crown. Unfortunately, my insurance wouldn’t cover the new crown since they had already paid for the previous one. The original crown cost me $1,800, and now I face an additional $1,300 for the root canal plus the full price of a new crown, which won't be covered.

When I went back to Dr. Samra to discuss the issue, he didn’t even take another X-ray. He simply referred me to an endodontist and claimed he had mentioned the possibility of a root canal earlier, which he hadn’t. Even if he had, why proceed with the permanent crown in the first place? I am extremely disappointed with the care and service I received.

I will be reaching out to the Board of Dentistry to provide them with all the necessary documents and request a thorough review of his qualifications.
