I am writing this review as a former long-time patient of Rubinstein Dental who has been suffering daily for over a decade due to the consequences of dental decisions made under their care. My experience is not just about discomfort this has been a long-term physical, emotional, and psychological trauma that has deeply impacted my quality of life.

At 22 years old, two lower teeth were extracted and implants placed at Rubinstein Dental. During the procedure, I was asked questions mid-surgery, decisions that should have been made before I was in the chair. From the start, I felt something was wrong my speech changed, my face felt “off,” and a constant discomfort began. I voiced my concerns repeatedly, crying in their parking lot, calling the office, asking for help. I was told it was “in my head.”

For years afterward, I returned hoping someone would take me seriously. Ken Rubinstein retired and left me under the care of his son, Brian, who brushed aside my complaints and brought up lab fees instead of looking deeper.

This isn’t just about aesthetics or a single bad appointment. I have been in daily discomfort ever since. I cry almost everyday for the last 10-15 years. I hate speaking. My mouth no longer feels like my own. The sensation of loss, of something being wrong, never stopped. I’ve since spent tens of thousands of dollars trying to find peace. I am now in speech therapy, mental health therapy, and exploring somatosensory trauma work because of this.

This trauma hasn’t just impacted my ability to socialize ..it has directly interfered with my professional life. I’ve struggled to stay in jobs that required in-office work because I became so hyper-aware of my mouth and speech that meetings, small talk, and even daily interactions felt unbearable. I’ve avoided promotions, turned down opportunities, and am currently unemployed because I could not return to an office setting without severe anxiety and panic.

My entire issue is they went into the appointment as a regular extraction procedure and that there was no game plan or any post op help.

Harvey stopped a couple of times during the extraction to ask me questions. AGAIN- he was not equipped nor was the office equipped to handle this, but they went ahead and took out two teeth but created a crater in my jaw. It’s gross and I’m reminded by it every second when I speak to someone…

They told me that it looks amazing and even Andrea said “don’t worry all the girls will still like you..”

And Harvey also said “you don’t speak like that” when I told him that I was uncomfortable speaking.

They were lying to me and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not uncomfortable with my mouth.

Harvey is a shady character and after two or three years living uncomfortably, I finally called them out on the terrible job they did instead of trying to wait for it to feel better and he said over the phone

“I knew I shouldn’t have done this case.”

That’s all I needed to know ……because it just proves to me that he was not equipped for this.

Even one of the dental hygienist, Julie said her husband hates Harvey and I was there long enough to know none of the staff liked Harvey either.

My story may not matter to them. But if it helps one person avoid what I went through, then at least something good can come out of my pain.
