First, I want to say that Dr. Tubbs is one of the finest and most talented dentist I’ve been to and I’ve been to many.
Second, I was a bit unsure about using Pathways, as they seemed to be one of those sketchy, “credit dental groups.” To my surprise, their equipment was the latest and their dental staff was very well trained, friendly, and extremely professional.
However, their office staff proved otherwise and embodied that low end credit dentist feel, I say this because I was given an estimate for services, paid $1000 in advance and my insurance would pay the remainder. Unfortunately, they billed the wrong insurance account, then proceeded to demand that I pay up or my follow up appointment (the next day) would have to be rescheduled. When I protested and asked them why, the representative said that my insurance had never responded to their calls. I immediately hung up, called my insurance, got right through to a representative, and explained what had occurred. The insurance rep said that the denied the claim because Pathways had erroneously billed my insurance that only covers preventative care and not the policy that covers restorative procedures. They also said that they had informed Pathway of their error and gave the the proper group number to refill. I then called Pathways and let them know my findings.
However, it didn’t end there. When I showed up the next day for my appointment, I was accosted by the clerk, asking me for the balance. I let her know what had transpired the previous day and she said that she knew, because she was the one who rebilled my insurance. So I asked, if you rebilled, then why are you asking me to pay the insurance’s portion, to which she answered, “because it could take them a while yo pay us.” I continued protesting and explaining that it was them that had wasted two weeks by billing wrongly and I had already given them half of the bill in good faith, before any work had even been performed.
Despite the stellar dentistry, the like a horrible taste in my mouth and has me questioning whether to return to Pathways for future services.
I rated them three stars, but it really is a five for the dentist and two for the office.
