I was at first very happy to find this dentist so close to our home. My first bad experience was in regards to billing. My son had Medi-Cal dental. He had to have 2 root canals. The first root canal they sent him to a different office to have it done and was completely paid for by Medi-cal. However, the second root canal they did it right in the office and charged my son over 1700 dollars my son charged it but was confused by the billing. When I contacted Medi Cal they stated this should not have been charged. I called Edwin who I had talked to on several occasions (always always rude) kept saying Medi cal didn’t cover root canals. We went back and forth til I asked for a complete billing breakdown. To this date (2 1/2 years later never recieved a billing breakdown from Edwin).
When my husband went there, to get a clearance for surgery, the dr. Found an infection so she couldn’t clear my husband for surgery. They gave me a breakdown of work that needed to be done. However, the first was a cleaning. Which, is covered by Medi Cal. When, my husband was taken to the back the sect. Said it would be 300 and some odd dollars that it’s my Co-Payment! I asked to speak to a Manager because Medi Cal covers the Co Payment. Rude Edwin, said to me exactly “this is your co-payment, I already gave you a break in the billing”. I said to him but MediCal does not charge a co payment for a cleaning”. Edwin insisted this is the charge so I paid it. My husband was in and out of the chair in 15 min for what they called a deep cleaning. When i complained i received an email from the dr states for us to come back and they will do another cleaning at no charge. Plus, now she is stating that the charge was for medication they gave to my husband. My husband stated that they didn’t give him any medication. The 300 + charge was for 3 medication treatments. Upon us coming back for another cleaning (NO CHARGE). I asked Rude Edwin for a billing breakdown now he he said it was for medication. I said to him 1. Why are you so rude, I understand we are a Medi Cal recipient and that is always looked down upon, but why are you so rude?, I asked him for a printout of the charges (I got a print out but now it states the charge was for medication that my husband never recieved). My, main objective was to clear the infection so my husband can have the surgery he needed. So, I called to make the next cleaning appt. I made it with the ofc lady (2”who no longer works there) she squeezed us in on a Friday. When we got there Edwin turned us away and said we didn’t have an appt. When I talked directly to the lady that squeezed us in, she said Edwin erased our appt from the books/computer. When, I complained Edwin, acted like he didn’t care, and told us we had to reschedule. I know Edwin is the doctors husband but he acts so high and might, I have never in my life met someone so extreme rude. I have been a Manager for over 30 years and would never speak to people the way he does. It was very unfortunate that we had to go on Medi Cal due to my husband becoming ill. We have always had private insurance, but have felt so discriminated against being on Medi Cal. I recently sent Edwin a email requesting a complete billing breakdown from my sons treatment and my husbands. After talking to Medi Cal they suggested I place a formal complaint with the Medi Cal board. I thought I would give Edwin a chance to show “why” they billed and charged us? Medi Cal stated both treatments should have been covered. To date I received NO reply. We never went back So, the 3 (medication treatments). We’re never fulfilled not even once let alone three times when we never saw the dr the third time. Please do not go here for the simple fact of meeting Edwin !!!!
