AMAZING ! When you live in the city & you see the amount of TikTok places taking over and you decide to skip the trend and stumble upon heaven!!! That’s exactly what happened for my bestie & I. We Wanted to enjoy the warm weather and some swings at the playground and Mamamia did not disappoint! First The presentation alone was everything! With both ice cream and sorbet this gelato place is very welcoming in the neighborhood. There’s limited seating outside, however we wanted to enjoy the playground. We were allowed to try different flavors before picking a definite option. I went with the waffle cone and three scoops. I was very well pleased with both of the pricing and the portions as I believe I got what I paid for. The quality of the ice cream wasn’t old, but it was very refreshing and it had no freezer burnt taste. The strawberry cheesecake legit taste like a cheesecake so I knew that there were some real components when I asked what was inside. They even have an allergy and ingredient list as soon as you walk in which I think is amazing for people with gluten allergies. Definitely rate this place 10 out of 10 as they are fairly new and upcoming but well worth it

Mamma Mia Gelato – A Sweet Slice of Italy on the Upper East Side.

Very good italian gelato, i tried a fresh cialda with 3 flavors ( biscotella dark, dubai chocolate and cookies). I recommend to go there to taste the real gelato. I'll definitely go back.

If I could give zero stars I would. The "gelato" was absolutely terrible tasting. The watermelon was bland/chalky and the cone was stale and burnt. The consistency is also very off - it was almost soupy, even when they served it. The prices are also astronomical. $40 for 4 small one scoop dishes. This place is criminal!! I will definitely not be returning.

We ate ice cream here during our stay in NYC. One of the most authentic Italian gelato in New York. Absolutely to try! They have a lot of tastes, even very particular. I found the taste of Italy again.

The gelato here is great! The staff was also above and beyond friendly. They patiently let us try any flavor we wanted before deciding!

Like someone else said, it’s great to find a hidden gem that hasn’t been ruined by a flood of people from a TikTok trend. If you intend to head to Anita gelato that’s a little further down 2nd Avenue, don’t bother waiting on that never ending line. This place is delicious without the line- the Reese’s and “sneakers” flavors are both great. And the “Rock” flavor taste like a ferrero rochet in ice cream form. My partner had the coconut and said it was amazing and refreshing.
