I strongly protest against the poor attitude and unprofessional practices exhibited by Dr. Hyunwood Kim and his assistant in handling the doctor-patient relationship.
Initial Expectations and Miscommunication
Initially, Dr. Kim’s assistant quoted the cost of dental implants at approximately $900,explaining that a failed implant from five years ago could have its root extracted with costs covered by insurance. Additionally, she mentioned that my two-year insurance plan could cover most of my out-of-pocket expenses. This information led me to feel optimistic about the upcoming treatment, prompting me to sign the relevant documents.
Discrepancies in Charges
However, during the treatment process, they repeatedly charged us inaccurately. According to Delta Dental’s guidelines, when extracting an existing root and simultaneously placing an implant, the patient’s out-of-pocket expense should be zero. Contrarily, Dr. Kim’ assistant insisted that I pay $400 upfront and requested an initial payment of $500. She claimed this amount could be refunded after reimbursement from the insurance company in the following year.
When I attempted to follow his instructions, I was then asked to pay $891. This included a charge for Panoramic radiographic imaging, where it was known that the patient’s deductible was only $59；instead, I was charged $360. Such actions not only violate principles of transparency in medical billing but also severely undermine patient rights.
Unprofessional Conduct
When my wife tried to discuss these unreasonable charges with them, Dr. Kim pointed his finger at her and shouted irrationally, demanding she leave the clinic. Ultimately, Dr. Kim even terminated my follow-up dental implant procedures, which is clearly irresponsible and highly unprofessional.
Conclusion
This experience marks my first encounter with such a low-level medical team, leaving me feeling disappointed and angry. I urge others seeking dental implants here to be vigilant about potential unreasonable charges to protect their interests.

I’ve seen Dr. Kim multiple times for cavity fillings, root canals, and a crown. He worked quickly, and I felt no pain (great anesthesia spot!). Dr. Kim is super nice, friendly, and patiently answered all my questions. The staff are just as friendly and patient! They taught me how to brush properly and recommended the best toothbrush and toothpaste for my teeth type (they don’t sell them, though!). They also helped me maximize my insurance benefits over two years and minimized my out-of-pocket costs. It’s been over a year now, and I’ve had no issues with the treated teeth. Five stars, I’d strongly recommend Dr. Kim!

(Just have to say, compared to Dr. Kim’s clinic, my school's dental clinic was a nightmare—terrible wait times, awful service, and my teeth hurt for days after treatment. Never going back there! Dr. Kim is perfect, seriously a lifesaver!)

I had a wonderful experience with this dentistry for my tooth implant, despite a complication. Dr. Kim discovered that I needed temporary braces to straighten a tooth before proceeding with the implant. They handled the situation with great skill and care.

The entire process, from the braces to the implant, was managed expertly and with minimal discomfort. Dr. Kim and their team kept me informed and supported throughout, ensuring everything went smoothly. The final result is fantastic—my implant feels natural, and I’m very pleased with the outcome.

I highly recommend Dr. Kim for their professionalism and exceptional care!

If I could give this dentist zero stars I would. Arrogant and overcharged. On top of that, his work is not that great. I’m not sure how he can stay in business acting like this. Run far and fast from this office.

First off, I’m not Tracy. Second, your reply pretty much proves my point about your arrogance. Here’s a tip, starting acting like you actually care about your customer service. You’re not special, there are literally thousands of dentists in the socal area. After reading your erroneous reply, it sounds like she had a good case against you. This is probably a good time for you to do some self reflection and think how you can treat your clients better if you wish to be successful.

My mom is doing implant there since 2016. She almost replaced every single teeth in her mouth. Dr. Kim took over the office from previous Dr. (retried) few years ago and we have no have any problem. The receptionist "Yura" is excellent !

Dr. Kim and his team are really caring, detail-oriented, and professional to their clients. The results are wonderful and I am really happy with how it turned out. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs teeth implants.
