I am so grateful to Dr. Derick Nguy and his staff. I had a dental emergency while I was about 7 months pregnant and called multiple offices to ask about not just availability but also experience in handling such urgent situations. Dr. Nguy not only was able to treat me but by the time i arrived, I learned that his office had already been in contact with my OBGYN to ensure that the treatment was the safe and recommended treatment for myself and baby, and that my OBGYN and Dr. Nguy were on the same page with respect to treatment. As a worried and expectant mama, I felt so relieved knowing that all precautions were taken and that I'd no longer be in pain and at risk for the issue getting worse. Since then, I've seen Dr. Nguy several times and the things that stand out are his high standards with respect to patient care and really listening to my concerns. For example, i needed a crown on one of my last visits and he repeatedly made micro-adjustments to ensure it was a perfect fit and that i was happy with it. Dr. Nguy's staff, including his office manager Jessica, his hygienists and assistants have all been professional, friendly and clear about next steps and scheduling my next appointments. I've seen other dentists that didn't have the same high standards and so I really appreciate the care I've been provided at Downey Family Dental and have recommended Dr. Nguy's office to my friends and family.

I love this office! I was never a fan of dental work and now I love coming here. I feel that they all genuinely care and take care of all my dental needs. My appointment time is always respected and I never feel rushed out. The doctor is amazing! Paid a visit today to Downey Family Dental to get a night guard to help with the clenching that I am experiencing... Priscilla took great care of this guy with the x-ray and assisting Dr. Derrick Tuan with some cleaning and fixing a tooth. Their professionalism is top notch!!! Everyone in the office were super welcoming. Definitely would recommend this place and their great service to anyone. Thank you again Downey Family Dental for you lr service. Will be back for other services in the near future!!!

I can’t thank Jessica, Dr. Tran, and Downey Family Dental (DFD) enough for being able to squeeze me in the last minute as an emergency visit to help adjust my bite from dental work done the day before by my dentist back home in Northern Cali. On 6/6/23 I had my fillings done by my dentist in the Bay Area. However, when the anesthesia wore off and I’m able to feel my mouth - I realized my bite was hitting one another where it’s very uncomfortable and difficult to chew. The next morning I had to head out on my trip to Santa Ana and I couldn’t stop by my dentist for an adjustment due to the office closes on Wednesday.

Long story short, I said I would just toughen it out and try to chew carefully for the next 5 days until I come back home. However, as I was eating MCDs while on the way to Santa Ana, I was having a hard time chewing and knew I would be extremely miserable on my trip. Desperately I went on Yelp searching for a dentist in Santa Ana area but didn’t have any luck. So, my husband called his good friend who we are coming to visit and asked if he knows of any dentist. He then gave us a number to DFD. I called and left a message and moments later, Jessica the office manager called me back and I told her my dilemma. She said they happened to have a slot available that evening around 4:30pm to squeeze me in for an emergency visit. That worked out well b/c I would be arriving down South around that time.

When I got to the office I was greeted by front desk staff & Jessica. I filled out some paperworks. Waited about 15mins then was called to the back for X-ray. Then, Dr. Tran came in. I explained what happened. He then took some pictures, explained what was going on and went straight to working on filing the excess fillings off my tooth. My bite felt great after the adjustment and I was a happy camper! Thank you Jessica for helping me with the appointment. You and Dr. Tran saved me from having a miserable trip down South. I was able to enjoy my foods and trip. Would definitely recommend this dental office! The in and out process was a breeze and staff were pleasant and friendly.
