A and E department treated me after a serious motorcycle accident...within 4 hours I had been given full treatment from CT scans xrays blood tests and pain killers and a bed on a ward overnight ...I didn't feel neglected...and as I had little or no spanish they had a lot of patience and I felt they took care of me very well. I was also given some paper work about my treatment. In English .

After a phone call today 7/1/18 At 21.38 pm to the Surgical ward room 2..
The nurse didn't listen to me talk over me and put the phone down on me.
My cousin is a patient at Ourense Hospital and is been there for the last 3 to 4 days.
He doesn't have a mobile phone as he doesn't use one. His bother is recovering from a serious accident and is unable to drive at the moment.
The patient address is 64 km to Ourense Hospital.
I live in Ireland and the only thing I wanted is to have a very short conversation with him as myself working in a Hospital setting I know how much isolation can damage the Mental Health of the individual.
As well I understand the nurse station phone should respect by the public but if no patients phone in the rooms or general area a 2 minutes conversation is not to much to ask.
As a Nurse myself I felt sad and disappointing on the way your nurse spoke to me at the phone. They were rude,talk over me ,put the phone down and the worst thing they fail to meet the needs of the patient and his human rights.

Took my Mom there on Wed Jan 10 2018, per instructions from her local clinic about 30 mins away.
We got there approx 1200 noon. A full Urgencias (Emergency Room) waiting
area. Most patients were elderly. Family members or escorts......we had to stand mostly. Average wait was three hours. My Mom got called at 300PM. (My left knee and both legs are still sore.)
Fairly efficient help for initial diagnosis, oxygen, IV drip, drawing blood samples. She was believed to have a pulmonary infection whicn also aggravated her heart condition.
Next we went to x-ray area; that was very quick.
Then we went to the observation section, where she was in a gurney in the hallway for about an hour, among others. She was whisked away to one of the observation rooms (14 beds in tnat one, all occupied in a cramped area, with curtains in between which gave no privacy.)
I do have to give them credit for tne extra wide halllways on that ground floor. They allow family members to congregate there. I think they should not be so lenient, but the area was spacious.
I stood there for approx two hours.
Thought I faintly heard a nurse call out my Mom's name once for response from family, but her voice just disappeared into tne ether.
After about ten mins, I went into a huge room and inquired. Nurses said to try the other room accoss the hall.
Found her. About 45 mins later, a Dr. Approached me and said that my Mom was going to be admitted, but no beds available in rooms. She said that patients were being placed in a transfer area. Soon after, we went to that area which also held 14 beds, all occupied also, with a large nurses station in the middle.
My Mom remained there until last night 11 Jan 2018 around 800PM.
The staff is overworked and some of them become very arrogant, even when you stand patiently waiting for them to acknowledge you. There is a serious ongoing flu epidemic and they are swamped.
Just read in one of the local papers today that an employee protest rally was called for 1100AM today. When I got there around 1230PM, it was over.
My Mother is 91 and I cannot imagine her navigating all the procedures without me.
I live in Los Angeles CA and happen to be spending a long stay with her here.
(My return may have to be delayed.)
Have been alternating staying in nearby hotels and taking cabs back and forth.
Another very pleasant Dr. said that they do not release patients Sat/Sun because only E.R. docs are on duty on weekends. So my Mom will stay until at least Monday, even if well recuperated.
Patients and staff all need better treatment.

Estuvimos en urgencias con la niña, desde recepción nos atendieron muy bien, la enfermera pediátrica que nos toco muy simpática nos hizo sentir muy cómodas mientras esperamos. Los pediatras muy atentos y comprometidos con su trabajo. No somos de Ourense,estábamos de paso y aun así nos atendieron con mucha excelencia. Felicito el equipo médico, así tendría que ser la sanidad pública siempre 👏👏👏
