Blood Pressure in Cardiac Rehab hovered between 219/115 and 179/108 and I struggled to keep my balance.
The cardiologist onsite, at Cardiac Rehab, had to keep me from falling. even with the waking stick I was using to walk.
That was stolen. While I was in the ER at Penrose Hospital .
After 7 hours in the ER. My BP didn't go down and they lent me a cane and sent me home. With BP higher than what I went in with.
The ER nurse asked, if I left my walking stick, I use to walk now after surgery, "At home. " I was discharged by an ER doctor anyway.
I got help from the Uber driver to walk from the hospital entrance to his car and from his car to mine. Because my car still at the Cardiac Rehab facility. Then drove home . When it was passed midnight.
I used a second walking stick I had in my car to get inside my house.
I played solitaire for two hours with a migraine and went to sleep. BP now 150/91.
Proving once again. Disabled people are not treated like human beings by the American Healthcare system. Because I would have been better off, and safer, going home in the first place.

I'm in Texas. My mother moved to Colorado springs. Had an issue with respiratory & blood pressure. I was informed my mother was code blue while there. Then she was released back home with no medication except and inhaler and cough medication. Blood pressure being in the 200s over 160. She has since had to go by ambulance to another hospital a month later and come to find out she had the rhino virus the whole time which then turned into walking pneumonia&bronchitis. They are now telling her she may have very well formed COPD or asthma. I wont go into too much detail due to HIPPA . Personally as someone who can't go and sit with my mother at the hospital as I normally would have . I feel as though they not failed her as a patient but myself as a child who would their parent to get the best care possible no matter where they are. I'm not sure if it was simply an issue with insurance or if that is just the level care they give to their patients. I am extremely dissatisfied. My Mother now has to see 2 specialist , which could have and should have been delta with a month ago.

Took a loved one to get surgery here today and had an amazing experience!! The staff, nurses and doctors are AMAZING, so friendly and understanding, and even brought us some nose spray before surgery so he could be comfortable while waiting! I also loved the text message system that keeps you updated while they’re in surgery, it was so helpful!! We had a great experience overall and recommend it to anyone!

Every individual that my husband and I encountered was professional and so caring. The hospital was comfortable and clean. The nurses, doctors, pharmacy staff, gift shop attendant and volunteers were all so wonderful. My husband was so pleased with his care and feels confident in his recovery. I thank all of you for caring for my husband and myself. Bless all of you always.

The surgical staff and nurses were extremely nice and professional and even one hospital employee on his lunch break took his personal time to escort us from the Pavilion to the main hospital because we parked in the wrong place. We don't often get this caliber of people willing to help much anymore but he went above and beyond. I wish I knew who he was. The whole experience was more than could be imagined. Such a great hospital and we rate this 10 stars.

I only came here because it was the closet ER but next time I will make the drive to go to UcHealth. I went in with a broken knee, had surgery the next day, and was admitted. The night shift completely ignored me when I needed something and only checked on me once in the night. I would ask for pain meds and they would take almost an hour to finally give it to me and on top of that when they would change my bedding they left it wrinkled and lumpy underneath me, making it very uncomfortable and said it was ok even though I went home with bed sores because they wouldn’t help me change positions. Then when I politely asked if they not roll me over onto my broken knee because it would hurt the nurse said it was easier for her and did it anyway. I spilled water in my bed and it took them 2 hours before coming in to change my sheets. I pressed the red button numerous times and my husband went and told them multiple times as well. Then one nurse needed my blood but missed my vein in my hand 3x and in my forearm twice making my hand bubble and it hurt. She refused to poke me in my upper arm where everyone does when they draw my blood and told me I was refusing treatment when I told her I didn’t want her to poke me again. The next day I was bruised up all over my hand and arm. I complained to the charge nurse. Then the doctor would order numerous blood tests throughout the day one after another for 3 days straight. So I explained I was tired of being poked and asked to wait until the next day and accused me of not wanting to know what was wrong with me. I was given no instructions on what to do when I was sent home. The night nurses on the 6th floor in ortho are extremely lazy! They should find another profession. I took this all the way to the nursing bored because I was treated like a piece of trash. Oh and one nurse told me to pee in my bed since I couldn’t walk to the bathroom until she got back. This was the worst experience I ever had and I would never come back even if my life depended on it!

I have been a patient there a number of times and like everything in life there are positives and negatives. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives. The employees, nurses, etc. are so friendly, professional, compassionate, and caring, you may not feel that while you are in pain, but afterwards you definitely feel it. My highest recommendations to Penrose Hospital. It is funny that while you’re in the hospital laying in bed for four or five days you never see a physician. That’s weird. Anyway I would recommend this hospital to anybody.

This post is actually for my 93 yr old mother who recently had surgery. In Colorado Springs we have many beautiful new hospitals. This is an older hospital, but the staff here are so down to earth and friendly. They take excellent care of their patients with joy and great attitudes. When you need health care you need people who care and this hospital has that in abundance. Thank you for the attentive care to my mother!
