Being relatively new to this office (my dentist recently merged with this office and he retired), I have found the staff here entirely professional, caring and helpful. Robert, my hygienist from my previous office did an exceptional job as he always has so I was very comfortable with him. Also my last cleaning was conducted by a different person and she made me feel comfortable and did an outstanding job. Dr. Larkin, my new dentist, also made me comfortable and explained everything so that I could understand without question. Jordan the receptionist and Claudia the office manager were also very helpful, explaining my treatment plan and all costs associated with it. I am very happy with my new Dentist office and staff.

Once again I have experienced excellence in dentistry Dr Davey and the entire staff could not have done anything better. I had cracked a molar and needed a crown I arrived at 1pm and walked out the door 2 hours later with the entire process done completely. No getting a temporary and coming back later. EVERYTHING was done painlessly and perfectly in a single 2 hours office visit. I can’t tell any difference in my new crown, it fits perfectly and looks perfect. I have been a patient of Dr Davey’s for 25 years and I will never change to another dentist I live in Orange County and travel more than an hour one way for dental care with this practice and for GOOD REASON!!!

The team here is excellent at providing education on how best to improve my family's dental health. Our hygienist, Pavlina, was fantastic with my son. She was very calm and provide him with outstanding treatment. For me, she walked me through areas to focus on and what I was doing well. I always leave knowing more about the impact of how your mouth is a leading indicator of your body's overall health.

Always such a pleasure having necessary dental work done at Carmel Valley Family Dentistry! Dr Henninger has made the process of having an implant replacement for a failed root canal seamless and pain free! Dr Davey will then finish by setting the crown in place in 2 weeks time. Excellent experience!!!

I wish I could give them a zero. I just moved to the area and this was the first dentist I found that said they take my insurance. I went in for a cleaning and consultation and the doctor said I needed 7 fillings. 7. Which I thought was insane. She also said she could do them all in the same day even though my entire mouth would be numb which I know dentist don't do. I wanted to just do 1 filling because I was in pain and needed it done. But after mentioning I was Jewish, they never called me back for an appointment, I called and left voicemails for an appointment and was completely ignored. ONLY after calling and leaving a voicemail that I wanted my records transferred, they finally called me back and sent me my records within 5 minutes. I don't know if it was because I am Jewish or they don't want customers but do not go to this dentist. There are plenty of others out there that actually want customers regardless of who they are.

I hate to have to write this review but have no choice. I needed to have an extraction and implant done on one tooth. The actual procedure went fine and I have no complaints with that and they deserve at least one star for that. Dealing with insurance though has been a very different story. I have Cigna and according to Cigna they are in network and I should get the negotiated rates which is one of the main reasons I went with Dr Henninger in the first place. I paid up front even though it seemed high because insurance said it should be the best rate. Well I get the insurance summary later and it says I should have paid around 1000 less than I did (after the amount insurance paid). When I talked to the office about it they claim that they are NOT in network and can charge whatever they want. They will not honor what the insurance company says is the correct rate. When I complained to the insurance company they opened up a case and tried to contact the office but the office never responded back to them which I have also experienced when trying to figure this out. Since Cigna can't get a hold of them they basically have given up and now I am forced to open up a complaint with the CA dental board. If they are not actually in network and don't have a contract with Cigna I will update this review but since insurance already paid its part I am not sure why they would be lying about them being in network and the office did nothing to prove them wrong so at this point they get a 1 star and have a formal California Dental Board complaint against them.

SCAMMER ALERT!

They are either wildly incompetent or full blown scammers. Be ready for a huge bill, months later, for services that you specifically declined.

I asked for a routine checkup and cleaning. I specifically stated that I don't want to receive any services that aren't covered by my insurance (Delta Dental). They obliged.

Months later, I received a huge bill in the mail. My insurance covers 100% of the routine services and I shouldn't have been charged anything. Not even a co-pay.

They are trying to scam me into paying for additional services that I specifically denied. They even had the audacity to state that the extra X-ray services that they charged me for were required by law. Um no, they definitely aren't. Don't fall for their bs.

It has been YEARS since my last visit and I knew going in that I needed a lot of TLC to solve some major issues with my overall dental health, and CVFD did not disappoint! Dr. Larkin was so kind and understanding and wanted the best for me and my mouth. It will be a somewhat involved treatment, to get me back to a healthy and “restored smile”, but with her expertise and really amazing staff, I have the utmost confidence that I am in great hands and look forward to the beautiful results. Five stars for sure!

12/5 Update
Yesterday, was my first of two scheduled visits and it was pretty involved, but I was in good hands with Dr Larkin and her amazing staff. From Reception, to Accounting to the Deep Cleaning Specialist and of course, Dr Larkin’s Dental Assistant, it was so satisfying and the results are fantastic! 2 crowns and a laser cleaning later and I am on my way to a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile. Three crowns and my implant to go. Stay tuned! Thanks Dr Larkin!

Just a quick update AND PHOTO!! Dr Larkin, Tiffany, Pavlina, Claudia and Jordan are why I have this AMAZING smile! The entire team at CVFD are the most wonderful group of professionals I have ever worked with. And trust me, I have been under some extreme dental care for over 40 years (with other dentists) and I finally got my FOREVER SMILE! It’s all thanks to Dr Sophia Larkin and her true desire to help people live up to their potential with fabulously health and beautiful smiles! Shout out as well for your generosity with your “Patient Appreciation Month” recognition and unbelievable gift!
