We have five dogs, and we've seen different vets over the years, and really all were compassionate and knowledgeable. But yesterday's visit to By the Sea far surpassed any experience I've had with my big, reactive but sweetheart of a dog. First, they gave me the best non-busy appointment time. Not once did they suggest I drug the dog after I explained his reactivity. Then, they had someone ready at the door to see us right into a room. A front room--no narrow hallway! I rave about their front desk--it is a wide, open area, unlike our other vets' offices, where the front desk can be a scene of chaos. Dr. Jean and the team were at ease with doggy, and he was a joy. To trim his nails (he hates it), he wore the soft muzzle, while one trimmed, and two others held him. I think with me in the room, he was definitely more at ease. Not a bark. (Btw, I did bring his favorite treats, which I'd never done before.)
I was brought the bill to the room (again, easy to avoid stress), and--first time ever--I was escorted to my car with a vet tech--just to ensure the path was clear and doggy was safely aboard.

This, in my opinion, is extraordinary, caring service.

Basically the only vet on the south end accepting new clients, which is a HUGE service to this community!! They care for Royce’s ongoing maintenance needs well, even when he’s disgruntled over a vaccine. 😊 Looking forward to their care for him for years to come! 😍 No pics of the hospital but it’s located in a scenic part of Langley: the pup pictured, however, has benefited from their services and professionalism!

We had to make an emergency visit while vacationing and these people fit us in right away. The vet was really good with our dog and explaining what needed done and the medication she was to take. We even received a follow up email a day later to inquire how are dog was doing.

Major compliments to both Dr. Jean and Tim at the front desk. I had an initial consultation and evaluation of my dog there today. Dr. Jean has an incredible bedside manner for both patient and owner. Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and supportive environment. Will continue to use this vet for all my pets and recommend to others living on the south end.

Animal Hospital by the Sea is simply the best, most caring, reliable vet on Whidbey!! Dr. Jean and her staff go above and beyond the call of duty EVERY time. She has called me after hours and on Sunday over a holiday weekend to check on and help us figure out how to help our foster dog when she was giving birth, even though she was not my fosters vet. She fought so hard for our beloved mini Aussie Pelli for over a month and was so kind to us by coming to our house when we had to put her down. She was so gentle, graceful and calming for her that I know it made a difference in her transition. She is incredibly through with her advice and I always get all the options/angles to a situation. Bottom line: Dr. Jean treats her clients gracefully with heart and skill.
