A trip to the ER is never gonna be a trip to Disneyland. But you could do much worse than Adventist Health.

The nurses and desk staff got us in right away. After a bit of back and forth and preliminary exams, we were admitted into the back and given a bed to be monitored for a while.

The nurses were super friendly, the doctor really did seem invested and to investigate as much as he could. Our exit was a little slow, but at that point it sounded like some other patients having a much worse evening had come in and been triaged.

I just wish hospitals would update that disgusting beige and powder blue color palette. It makes you feel uneasy.

The staff are overworked, there’s not enough nurses to do the work that’s forced on them delaying care for all patients. This lead to 40+ minute waits occasionally. While legally a 1:5 ratio is considered “safe” for med-surg in California it was obvious both in my own care and how overworked the nurses seemed that 1:5 was not appropriate.

I was scolded both in the ER and after being admitted for crying and screaming, something I could barely control for the amount of pain I was in. Not to use it as an excuse, but I am autistic, and I was genuinely in some of the worst pain I’ve been in my life. I didn’t want to be screaming or crying either!

Dr. Amadpour while technically good at his job asked me a wildly inappropriate question of “You had a double mastectomy?” And added, “You’re to young.” While I can see if it were cancer-related it may be medically relevant, but I do not see what my age has to do with anything in relation to it. Also I came in for GI issues, does my lack of breasts effect my intestines?

To actually say something positive, a majority of my nurses were wonderful and doing the best they could. You could certainly tell that many of them cared, but had too few hands to do all they needed.
To add to that the student nurses all seemed genuinely excited to learn.

Though only a single nurse bothered to ask for my pronouns, so I was misgendered (and to a lesser extent deadnamed) all week by the staff all week. My gender and preferred name are in my chart.

Tl;dr: Hire more nurses, you’re not allowed to cry, old man asked about my breasts, most of the nurses did great— but hire more of them.

I had a great experience at the ER. Even though it was a stressful situation, I felt truly cared for. The doctor was very involved, communicated clearly, and made sure all the necessary tests were done. The nurses were friendly, professional, and attentive. Everything felt thorough and organized. I really appreciated the level of care I received and felt comfortable throughout my stay—thank you to the whole team!

Adventist Simi Valley is a great hospital...I know...I spent over 2 months here last year. All in all it was a positive experience. The surgeons, doctors, nurses, and the incredible aides, saved my life and I will be forever grateful.

I won't tell you that every day or everyone is perfect all the time...any place with hundreds of employees has their "problems" and I experienced a few of them but, for the most part I was well taken care of though admittedly maybe not the easiest patient in the world.

I'm sure they were as glad to see me go as I was to get home...but I wouldn't be here without 'em!

When I arrived. Staff was excellent. It was streamline as the er wasn't busy as I had experienced in the past. Went in for a kidney stone. I let them know that They had just had back surgery 20 days prior. I was admitted. IV blood test... urine etc. After treatment. The final analysis/result was lengthy. There wasn't anyone to read the X-ray etc. So. Waited for longer than needed.
I had one to inform I needed to use the restroom. So I brought upon myself and escorted myself to use it... After disconnecting a couple of the monitors connected to me.
Overall. It was a better experience for me. Most staff was attentive.
I wouldn't hesitate to come back if needed.

Showed up at 8 o’clock on a Thursday night. Was checked in and had vitals taken within the first 10 minutes of me being there. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Once vitals were taken, I was almost immediately taking him back to her room. Where I waited for a very short period of time before seeing a nurse. Saw the doctor about five minutes later. He spoke to me, asked me what my symptoms were and was immediately on it and told me his course of action. I would just like to say that the staff was extremely nice, friendly, super professional couldn’t ask for anything more. Probably one of the best ER visits I’ve ever had. I was discharged about 1115 at night. With medication and instructions for my aftercare. Honestly couldn’t ask for a better experience.

I had some amazing nurses and my procedure ran on time. That is NOT the norm these days based on others I have talked to at different facilities. Dr Arora is amazing and my nurses Cindy, Johnny and Wil were all terrific.
