I needed a tooth extraction and implant from Dr. Marty. The surgical removal of the tooth and bone grafting went OK. I was in pain for a few days after. A few weeks later, I returned for Dr Marty to implant the titanium post. I woke up from surgery in a lot of pain, and the pain only got worse. Even with the pain meds Dr. Marty prescribed, my pain was worse than anything I had ever experienced. It was absolute torture. I couldn't work, couldn't sleep, couldn't think. It was truly awful. The pain continued to worsen to the point that I could barely talk. Finally three weeks after my surgery, I just couldn't take it anymore. I called Dr. Marty's office begging him to remove the titanium post. I'm grateful that he agreed to remove it the following morning after he lectured me on how rare titanium posts fail and how uncommon my experience was. Fortunately, I felt better as soon as I woke up. Unfortunately, Dr. Marty's office has never reimbursed me for the many hundreds of dollars that I paid for the surgeries. Worst dental experience of my life.

Dr. Martey is so kind so compassionate and really is great to know that I was able to rely on him to remove three teeth that had abscesses on both sides of my face. He's thorough and fast and pain free. There doesn't seem to be any Dentist in the eureka area that will help people that have Medi-cal and I totally understand that but Dr. Martey was willing to remove my 3 abscessed teeth for less than half the price all other dentists around here are charging. He thorough and fast. He honors the Hippocratic oath to do no harm and really understands and cares about people's health over money and that's rare to find these days. I sure wish he was a General dentist. Thank Dr. Martey and staff, from my whole heart you are all so caring.

Excellent experience that i did not have to travel outside or Humboldt County for! There were no issues with anesthesia and no complications from surgery.

This office is busy. There was one hour wait in the office and also a rescheduling that they notified me of a week in advance. I feel that the wait and rescheduling are not out of the norm for doctors’ offices. It was fair to wait for a doctor that does such a good job!

The staff did a follow up call after surgery and also got me in and out quickly for a follow up appointment one week after surgery. I’ve had more major surgeries that had much less follow up care so I appreciate that.

Grumpy staff, won't take responsibility for their mistakes, and poor customer service. Notice that they only respond to the positive reviews on here. That's because they can't take criticism, will never apologize for anything, and will blame you if you complain about anything. Mind you, I'm a nice guy, and I'm pretty understanding, but all I ever encountered from these staff was rudeness and a dismissive attitude.

I got a tooth extracted, and a flipper after. After the flipper, weeks went by, and nobody called me to tell me it was ready. I told them that nobody called me when I showed up and the lady didn't say anything - no apology, just silence. Meanwhile I'm going to work for several days with a missing front tooth. I had a follow up appointment scheduled months later, but had to move out of the county, so I cancelled the follow up appointment and told them I would be moving. A year later I requested records, and all they had for records was a single X ray and a ledger. The ledger said I was charged for 3 X rays, but I only got one. I called (I had to call like 5 times before they even answered), and the lady who always talks with a grumpy, annoyed tone said I was charged for an additional 2 x rays that they never did because they were going to take the x rays at the appointment I cancelled. Instead of apologizing for overcharging me for 2 x rays I never got, she blamed me for cancelling the appointment - "that's because you cancelled the appointment." It's not my fault for cancelling an appointment - things happen. It's also strange that they charged me preemptively for services I never even received. They claim that it's "common practice" to do this, but seems shady; I have never been charged preemptively by any healthcare professional for anything. They were never even going to tell me they overcharged me or refund me, and I didn't even know they did overcharge me before I asked for records. I told them that I was moving when I cancelled the appointment, so they should have refunded me when I told them, if it's "common practice" to charge for that appointment before it even happens. I haven't had issues with Dr. Martey himself, but his staff are overwhelmed and/or just rude and don't care, so I'm driving 3 hours to Redding for future oral surgery services instead of going back here to deal with them.

Dr.Martey’s office is hands down the best oral surgeon in town! The receptionist and dental assistances made my experience a great one. Dr.Martey explained everything thoroughly before I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. Everything went very smoothly during my wisdom teeth surgery. I was sedated, so I pretty much did a quick count down 3, 2, 1, fell asleep, and the next thing I know I was already finished & woken up. I had a very kind dental assistant walk me to the car to make sure I was ok. I would greatly recommend Dr.Martey to anyone who needs any extraction done in Humboldt County!

I needed to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed and my current dentist recommended me to go to Dr. Marty for extractions under sedation. I never had been sedated before & I'm an anxious person but I felt very safe & comfortable. I followed post op instructions & had no issues.
